Since joining ARC in December 2022, Clare’s focus has been on transforming the IT systems that underpin the daily functions of the business. Here she explains more about her decade-long career and her aspirations for the future:
“A career in IT was never really the set plan. I had always been good with computers and when the opportunity to do an apprenticeship came up, I took it. Looking back, it was great to have the chance to learn through real hands-on experience; it has stood me in good stead and taught me a wealth of valuable skills. I love that no two days in this job are the same; there’s always something different or a new problem to solve.”
Despite being a relatively new recruit at ARC, Clare has settled right in, spending time with every department to understand the business and what makes it tick.
“The team have been great with me. Everyone has been so welcoming, and I feel at home. I even spent a day in the factory, which was really insightful. My role is central to the entire business and I deal with almost every department so understanding how each function operates from the start to the finish of the process has been invaluable.”
Talking about her role Clare added, “It’s really rewarding. I always say that to people when they ask what I’m most proud of – it’s not about particular achievements or projects for me – as much as those are great. If everything is running as it should be then I’m happy. That’s my job – I’m a problem solver and I want to ensure that the business is running as it should.”
In the next year, Clare will lead on progressing a number of new projects, including overhauling and installing new servers and improving the businesses’ cybersecurity systems to make ARC as safe and secure as possible.
“We’ve got some big projects ahead this year which I’m excited to get my teeth into. IT drives every business and ARC is no different. We are in a good place but can always improve, and I’m set on delivering some real improvements to the businesses current processes.”
