Cavity barriers are fire resistant products, generally made from rock-fibre that are installed into a building’s cavities to limit the spread of smoke and fire.

Yes if your construction meets the requirements for a cavity barrier as laid out in the Building Regulations, you must install them.

ARC Cavity Stop Sock will provide fire and thermal properties when used around window and door openings. You will need to consider moisture penetration in your design as the product does not include an integral DPC.

The polythene sleeve is there to provide product identification and protection from the elements and should therefore be left in place. It does not add to the performance of the product so can be safely cut in to, and the product can still be used should the polythene be damaged.

The product does not include an integral DPC. A separate cavity tray or DPC should be installed where this is required by the location or type of building.

ARC Cavity Stop Socks are designed to suit specific cavity widths and are available in 5mm increments. It’s important that the appropriate size is fitted to achieve the required compression fit and to ensure the product performs as expected.

Fixings are not required for the product to achieve its performance criteria. Please see the product datasheet for available fixings.

The fixing brackets should be mechanically fixed in to the edge of the concrete floor slab or in to blockwork. A minimum 50mm masonry screw should be used.

A 5mm compression fit is recommended. When cutting on-site, it is important to ensure the cut size is suitable for the as-built cavity, as no gaps can remain between the barrier and the internal or external leaf.

Yes. ARC Fire Stop Slab has a range of supporting test evidence in accordance with BS EN 1366-4, and subsequently a FoA report has been written by independent fire engineers outlining the approved scope of use. This includes use against SFS and sheathing board.

ARC Fire Stop Strip can be manufactured up to 50mm thickness and in widths from 100mm upwards.

ARC Fire Stop Strip can be used to provide fire stopping for gaps in masonry/concrete constructions up to 50mm, provided there is a minimum 100mm depth.

Yes. The product has grooves marked at common cavity widths 65mm, 75mm 85mm and 100mm. The installer simply scores a knife down the groove to trim the product to the correct size.

The ARC Contract-Closer is insulated with expanded polystyrene (EPS).

The ARC Insulated DPC is designed to insulate the void between a return block and external brick, and is supplied in 10m rolls which are suitable for a 17mm void. Two widths are available, to suit 100mm or 140mm block width.

The ARC Insulated DPC is suitable for minimising cold bridging in applications where a fire rating is not required. If you require a fire rated cavity closer, please see the ARC Rockfibre Insulated DPC.

A horizontal version of ARC Party Wall DPC is available, which includes additional width of DPC which can be lapped back to the inner leaf, negating the requirement to install a separate cavity tray above.

ARC Soffit Slab is designed to be push fitted to fill the void within the soffit. The slab must fully fill the soffit at the party wall junction and should be fixed into place. Please read the datasheet for full installation guidance.

Yes, ARC Spandrel Barrier carries up to 1 hour fire rating.

Yes, ARC T-Barrier Pitched Roof can be used with either a pitched or flat roof, provided there is a party wall with a cavity, and a 25mm gap between the top of the wall and underside of the roof.

Yes, the polythene flanges can be used to mechanically fix, typically a staple, to the spandrel panel.

ARC Wired Tile Batten Barrier is manufactured using rockfibre mineral wool which achieves a fire classification of Euroclass A1 as defined in BS EN 13501-1, and complies with building regulations for fire stopping at the pitched roof party wall detail, as well as NHBC 7.2.16.

Rock mineral wool is a flexible material and will fill most ridges. In extreme cases due to the natural properties of the material this may not happen. Any such gaps can be filled with cuts of non-combustible rockfibre mineral wool.

Yes, ARC Wired Tile Batten Barrier will compress underneath the tile.
