Stacey Tempest has been with ARC Building Solutions for nearly ten years, watching the business transform into the world-class manufacturer it is today. Starting in sales, Stacey has worked across various departments, providing a solid grounding for her role as SHEQ Co-Ordinator. Stacey oversees a wide range of functions, including our colleagues’ health and safety and environmental impact. Here, Stacey discusses her career so far and the values that have stood her in such good stead during her time at ARC.
“When I first joined, I never imagined I’d be where I am today. But I’ve loved every minute of it. The business has changed so much and is now in a place to make a real impact. Above all else, we pride ourselves on our standards. Whether it’s the quality of our products, the health and safety of our colleagues or our environmental impact, we are always striving to be the best and to have the best policies and practices in place to safeguard the business for the future. Business is constantly changing, and it’s about being responsive and continually improving to ensure we are always on the front foot.”
Recently, this included implementing a new Health & Safety management system, which aims to bring all aspects of health and safety into the 21st century.
“This year, our health and safety management systems have been a top priority, utilising digitalisation to bring our policies in line with the ambitions of the business. This has been led by implementing integrated reporting systems through a web-based app, which is displayed on tablets throughout our factory. This has allowed us to streamline all aspects of business health and safety, from accident reporting to preventative action. Going paperless also places greater accountability and responsibility on colleagues to ensure safety standards are upheld, with real-time data analytics able to inform decision-making. As a business passionate about safety, this is a huge step in the right direction.”
“Of course, it doesn’t stop there; we constantly strive to improve. Our next big step is going to centre around our sustainability criteria. Like all businesses, we have a responsibility to plan for the future, and we firmly believe in being proactive in our approach to the environment and our impact on it. With the help of a passionate and committed team, I’m sure we will take it in our stride and excel.”
