The ARC Spandrel Barrier is a fully tested IFC certificated fire barrier purposely designed to seal the top of party wall blockwork and act as a fire stop between the blockwork and spandrel. The ARC Spandrel Barrier has been rigorously tested to meet or exceed the performance requirements laid out in UK and Irish Building Regulations, helping to ensure safer homes.

Application:

ARC Spandrel Barrier seals the top of the party wall cavity, allowing a zero U-value to be achieved when used in conjunction with ARC T-Barrier vertically. Spandrel Barrier is compressed between the top of the party wall blockwork and underside of the spandrel panel, creating a fire and thermal break. The person installing the Spandrel Barrier should first familiarise themselves with the datasheet, ensuring the correct product is being fitted into the cavity.

All performance claims made are evidenced in the IFC certification IFCC 1960.

Installation instructions

ARC Spandrel Barrier is designed to be fitted across the top of party wall blockwork underneath a timber spandrel panel. Installation is easy, the barrier simply push fits into the top of the party wall cavity. The spandrel panel then drops on top, compressing the barrier and creating a fire and thermal break between the spandrel panel and blockwork. Lengths of ARC Spandrel Barrier should be butted tightly together, with care taken to ensure no gaps remain. Care should be taken when handling the product to ensure that the mineral wool isn’t damaged.

Is the ARC Spandrel Barrier fire rated?

ARC Spandrel barrier has been fire tested in accordance with the principles given in EN1366-4, achieving 180 minutes fire integrity and 180 minutes insulation.

What if my party wall design requires a spandrel panel on both sides of the party wall?

We can manufacture a double spandrel barrier on request. Contact our sales team to enquire about this option.
