Description:

The ARC U-Barrier is a fully tested IFC certificated fire barrier purposely designed to seal the top of the spandrel panel. The product can be compression fit or mechanically fixed to the spandrel panel. The ARC U-Barrier has been rigorously tested to meet or exceed the performance requirements laid out in UK and Irish Building Regulations, helping to ensure safer homes.

Application:

The ARC U-Barrier is compressed between the top of the spandrel panel and underside of the roof covering, creating a fire and thermal break.

NHBC 7.2.16 recommends a 25mm gap between the separating wall and the top of adjacent roof trusses, which should be filled with mineral wool – the ARC U-Barrier satisfies this recommendation.

The person installing the U-Barrier should first familiarise themselves with the datasheet, ensuring the correct product is being fitted into the cavity.

All performance claims made are evidenced in the IFC certification IFCC 1961.

Installation instructions

ARC U-Barrier is designed to be fitted across the top of the spandrel panel underneath the roof covering. Installation is easy, the barrier simply push fits over the top of the spandrel panel. Lengths of ARC U-Barrier should be butted tightly together, with care taken to ensure no gaps remain. Care should be taken when handling the product to ensure that the mineral wool isn’t damaged.

Is the ARC U-Barrier fire rated?

ARC U-Barrier has been fire tested in accordance with the principles given in EN1366-4, achieving 240 minutes fire integrity and 180 minutes insulation within a masonry construction.

Can the ARC U-Barrier be mechanically fixed?

Yes, the polythene flanges can be used to mechanically fix, typically a staple, to the spandrel panel.
