The ARC Soffit Slab is a fully tested IFC certificated fire barrier purposely designed to fill the void at the soffit detail, the soffit slab can be cut to size on site to help ensure a perfect fit. The ARC Soffit Slab has been rigorously tested to meet or exceed the performance requirements laid out in UK and Irish Building Regulations, helping to ensure safer homes.

ARC Soffit Slab is designed to fill the void within the soffit, providing a fire and thermal barrier between dwellings. The barrier is manufactured from rockfibre mineral wool, with a reinforced foil faced barrier. An exact fit can easily be created to form an effective barrier at this junction.The person installing the Soffit Slab should first familiarise themselves with the datasheet, ensuring the correct product is being fitted into the cavity.

All performance claims made are evidenced in the IFC certification IFCC 1959.

Installation instructions

ARC Soffit Slab has been fire tested without fixings, and when installed into a non combustible substrate can achieve the fire performance shown held only by its own compression. Because a PVC soffit will deform and ultimately melt or burn in the event of a fire, it is recommended to use the fixing to provide extra stability to the cavity barrier. The supplied helical fixing can be used, however where this is not practical due to detail variation, any alternative noncombustible fixing can be used to provide a secure, mechanical fix through the ARC Soffit Slab into the timber batten behind.

FAQ’s

Is the ARC Soffit Slab fire rated?

ARC Soffit Slab has been fire tested in accordance with the principles given in EN1366-4, achieving 90 minutes fire integrity and 15 minutes insulation within a masonry construction. Real world performance may be affected by the fire performance of supporting and abutting elements, for example a PVC soffit.

How can I fix the ARC soffit slab in place?

ARC Soffit Slab is designed to be push fitted to fill the void within the soffit. The slab must fully fill the soffit at the party wall junction and should be fixed into place. Alternatively, the product can be mechanically fixed using helical screws provided if required. Please read the datasheet for full installation guidance.
